Tommaso Ciampa has been busting his ass as NXT Champion. He’s defended in the United States & The UK – but yet still can’t seem to get respect from the newcomers on the brand. Words do little however, and Ciampa will take this to the ring to send a proper message.
Tommaso Ciampa Has A Problem With NXT 2.0
Ciampa would hit the ring in a bad mood – something you don’t want to see with a man known as Psycho Killer. He’d vent for a second. Guys like Carmelo Hayes come out week by week, trying to convince himself that he’s the A Champion. Meanwhile, he’s scared to take a shot at Ciampa and miss. Grayson Waller thinks that likes on Twitter are worth more than actual experience.
Before he could get to Tony D’Angelo, Bron Breakker came out. This is one man that Ciampa likely respects, and who respects Ciampa. Ciampa beat the hell out of Breakker a few times, and knows he’s legit. He’d call out Ciampa for looking down on the new crop of talent, and it means nothing. Ciampa should be worried about Breakker taking his championship instead of the rest of the roster.
However, he’d get the footage from three weeks ago, where Breakker was dropped. “I’m not a math major, and by the sound of it, you ain’t either… but the way I see it, you have less than 33 1/3 % chance of ever taking this NXT Championship from me.” Right now, Breakker is just a puppy, and not worth Ciampa’s time, and that line would left to linger in the head of Breakker.
Raquel Gonzalez
Raquel Gonzalez was unstoppable as NXT Women’s Champion – so long as Dakota Kai had her back. When Gonzalez would have Kai turn on her for a title match, she was able to stand on her own and beat Kai, things seemed to move on. That is, until Kai cost Gonzalez the championship against Mandy Rose. Now tonight on NXT 2.0 – they meet in the ring to settle their issues, in a match that could tear down the Capitol Wrestling Center.
Kai would be run down early with a big lariat and sent out of the ring. Gonzalez would follow and throw her into the barricade. Back in the ring, she was hit with a flapjack and then rolled back out… for another flapjack. Gonzalez is relentless, and Kai went for a small package and was blocked.
Canadian Backbreaker was applied, before Gonzalez ran her into the corner. Kai would finally get a blow in with a big boot on the outside, as we went to a commercial break. Back from the break, Kai remained in control with some smart work on the arm of Gonzalez, before hitting another big boot. Gonzalez was pulled to the second rope, where she would set up a superplex but get sent over the top of the turnbuckle instead.
WARGAMES INCOMING
Coming back with a chokebomb, Gonzalez hit a second wind with some big lariats. A huge senton in the corner got a two count, before Kai got two off a roll up. Scorpion Kick was blocked into a Stretch Muffler slam. Suplex was blocked and Gonzalez was thrown into exposed steel. Kai grabbed a shovel, showing a win isn’t important – but was kicked in the midsection before using it.
Gonzalez refused to do it this way and Toxic Attraction ran in to end this one in a DQ. Cora Jade made a save before being dropped. Wargames are coming, and teams are assembling. Zoey Stark came out on crutches, just to offer one to Io Shirai. Gonzalez, Jade, Shirai and ??? vs. Kai & Toxic Attraction. The crowd was chanting boring, and Shirai yelled Wargames.
We saw these two can bring an incredible match previously, but tonight was not that. It was a bog standard TV main event, complete with a long commercial break. Decent story but nothing else. They set up Wargames nicely, but that seems like a waste of a big singles match. Match Rating: 2.5/5 (** 1/2)
