The Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger in the Kyle Rittenhouse case has been slammed after he decided to point an AR-15 at the jury during his summation.
Rittenhouse Prosecutor Slammed For Pointing Gun At The Jury In The Trial Summation
Kyle, for his part, is on trial after he shot two people dead (Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber) and injured one other (Gage Grosskreutz) during a protest that had occurred in response to the police shooting of Jacob Blake.
Although Kyle claimed that his actions were done in self-defence, the actions of Thomas are not going to do Kyle any favours. Given that Kyle could face a life sentence, if Thomas’ actions sway the jury, then it could be critical.
According to reports, Thomas held the rifle at the jury before saying: “[This is when Kyle] lost the right to self-defence.” The response to Thomas’ conduct on social media was one of condemnation.
Many felt that he was unprepared, given that he broken gun safety rules. He should have made sure that the gun was not pointed towards anyone in case it could have ended been loaded.
One person on Twitter wrote: “I’ve only been to a gun range once my whole life. First thing you’re taught is you do NOT point a gun loaded or unloaded at anything you do not intend to destroy, especially another person.
“Binger’s not only breaking the first rule of gun safety but also pointing it at the jury.” Therefore, his conduct drew parallels with Alec Baldwin’s prop gun incident on the set of ‘Rust,’ which ended up killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.
And with an investigation still ongoing in order to determine who was responsible in that case, Thomas’ conduct brought back many painful memories.
Elijah Schaffer, who happens to be the host of Blaze TV, had this to say: “Rittenhouse prosecution DA points a gun at the jury, finger on the trigger, to give an example of what it looks like working with Alec Baldwin on a movie set.”
The only thing that needs to be done is to let the jury consider the evidence, and let them come to a reasoned conclusion. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
