During the recent releases from WWE, Nia Jax was the biggest name cut from their women’s division. A former RAW Women’s Champion and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, Jax was consistently pushed as a top name in the division. However, it seems unlikely that she will ever step back into the ring – as she would note on Twitter.
Nia Jax Intends To Leave Professional Wrestling In Her Past
Recently, Jax rebranded her social media and created a new website under her real name, Lina Fanene. Fans were asking if that was a new ring name – which would prompt the following response from Fanene.
“Lol! Newflash..Lina is my real name. It’s not another “ring” name. It’s just MY NAME, the name given to me at birth. Calm TF down trolls. In all fairness, “Opponent Crippler” would be a SOLID front runner if I ever decide to wrestle again. but it’s highly unlikely”
Reason For Release Remains Unclear
It was first reported that Fanene was released from WWE due to refusing to get vaccinated for COVID-19. This would have severely limited her ability to show up on events, as most arenas in the United States now require proof of vaccination for entry. Fanene has since turned down these rumors, claiming she requested her release to get a mental break.
This was noted in a statement release via her Instagram account stating the following. “I usually keep my personal life private, but yesterday’s reports leave me with no option but to clarify matters. I recently took a short leave of absence from WWE for a mental health break. I’ve been working through so much — more than I can share — and so I took some time, with the full support of the company, to take care of myself.”
From the looks of things, Fanene is returning to her former profession as a model. Considering her entire career was ripe with comments of her needing to return to NXT and the WWE Performance Center for more training, this could be for the best. WWE could look to bring her back down the line for special appereances if the split was mutual as she claims. But for now – she has moved on from the ring.
