It looked like after the new era of NXT with 2.0. Takeovers are the PPV’s of NXT, and we haven’t seen the return of them since the 2.0 era. But it’s now looking like the NXT Takeovers are returning.
The last Takeover was in September, and it has now been confirmed that we will be getting another Takeover this year. We are still getting the special episodes of NXT with Halloween Havoc airing a couple of weeks ago. NXT Takeover before 2.0 were some of the best PPV in WWE in the past couple of years. It has also included some of the best matches in WWE history.
However most of the wrestliers in the matches have know been releases. With most of them know wreslting in AEW. The Takeover is when NXT is at its high points without them it feels like there is no goal. The specail episodes do help but a Takeover can’t be beat. Its also likly that with the return of Takeover, Wargames will most likly return in the future.
When will we see Takeovers return?
It is being reported that the first Takeover in the 2.0 era will air on the 5th December on a Sunday. It’s still over a month away, and we won’t see the PPV start to take form in a couple of weeks. It looks like Takeover will be on the usual regular occasion through the year with about three months in between each one.
It’s very similar to the AEW PPV schedule. It’s looking like Tommaso Ciampa will continue the champion run at least up this PPV, but there is a Johnny Gargano feud on the horizon. It looks like they will have one last fight before either Johnny leaves at the start of next year or they get moved to either Raw or Smackdown.
