By now, those wanting a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X/S have either been the early bird that got the worm or did some finagling to score one. Released late last year, it was going to be an ordeal to score a console since production and shipping were both hobbled by COVID-19.
A year later—several months late—Walmart can finally say “The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are now in stock” with its whole chest.
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S Will Be Restocked in Time for Black Friday
It’s not that surprising that the console—as well as the Xbox Series X and Series S—will be restocked next week. Miss one shopping season? Alright, fine. Things are dicey and nothing’s shaking out as they should at the moment—but you can only miss one.
It’s rare to miss consecutive Black Fridays and Cyber Mondays and maintain consumer enthusiasm. If anything, it really dents trust in a brand even if it’s beyond that company’s control. Walmart has its Black Friday promotions ready with a stock of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X (and S) consoles in the store on Monday, November 22.
In the States, Black Friday usually kicks off at right at midnight but if you really want to snag a console, it’s best to do so on the 22nd. This is a “while supplies last”, “first come, first serve”, “sh** or get off the pot” situation. It’s not like Sony and Microsoft are offering discounts for the inconvenience of low stock-no stock–which would make the urgency to get a console even worse, really.
If you’re unable to get a console this time around, it might be up in the air as far as when another big restock will happen. On that note, PlayStation direct and the site for the Xbox Series X are often your best bets to grab one—especially PlayStation direct which has fresh stock early in the week here and there.
