One of the new policies announced by the WWE concerning NXT 2.0 is an age restriction of signing women wrestlers and Taya Valkyrie, formerly Frankie Monet, picked up the banner.
In March, it was announced by Dave Meltzer that the WWE wanted to keep signing of new talent under the age of thirty unless they’re a great talent, and Valkyrie fit into that category.
But following their newest series of releases, it was reported that a new Vince McMahon mandate went into effect where they won’t sign any female stars over the age of 25.
Yep, it’s an alleged new age restriction on women but not the men.
Some fans are rejoicing as they’ve wanted new, younger talent instead of the old talent we’ve seen a hundred times.
But age isn’t the problem as much as people we haven’t seen or better storylines to get our attention.

Valkyrie responded to a comment on a Twitter thread where Tommy Dreamer said he could build an entire company around the talent the WWE just released.
The commentator said they shouldn’t hire “old wrestlers” and to “just focus on the young.”
Understandably, this pushed a few button and Valkyrie responded with:
“STFU…. I just turned 38, I’ve been ashamed to even SPEAK about my age until today. 38 is not old…especially when you’re a man. Process that.”
She’s 100% right and age shouldn’t be a problem. It’s about if you’re able to do the job or not. And her next tweet continued to point that out.
“Age should never be and issue a d I’m sick of ppl using that as a reason that someone should lose their job. I’m a women, a wife a mother to 2 dogs, an aunt and a friend. Nobody should EVER say that 38 is old. GROW UPPPPP”
While this was in response to a poster on Twitter, it’s easy to assume it’s also her statement to the WWE and their new policy. But only she knows for sure on that one and anything we say is pure speculation.
There can be an argument made that it’s to give the WWE time to develop their talent, but since NXT 2.0 is going to operate on a six month contract window, it doesn’t wash.
As for fans wanting younger fans, everyone’s entitled to their opinion on it but to hold women to a separate age standard than men doesn’t make sense and is short sighted at best.
