As of the writing of this article, WWE has released 18 more wrestlers from their roster. Among them include names like Ember Moon, Karrion Kross, Keith Lee, Franky Monet and more high profile names. No one will be shocked when these names show up in places like All Elite Wrestling, Impact Wrestling, and beyond – and absolutely shine as the stars they are. These are the expected stars, but what names from the list should we keep a close eye on beyond the expected stars? Here are two names that could bring a lot of hype very soon.
Zayda Ramier Barely Got A Chance In WWE, Could Bloom Like Tay Conti Elsewhere
One great example of an unexpected star after a WWE release is Tay Conti. Her time in WWE NXT was nothing to write home about, mildly impressive at best. However, the moment she stepped into AEW? She became a star, to the point where she will be in a high profile singles match with Britt Baker at Full Gear. In the list of WWE releases, one name stands out as being potentially someone that can step up like Conti is Zayda Ramier.
Having just one win in WWE over Toni Storm, Ramier barely got a chance to show what she was capable of. Trained by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T – she’s got the skills, and a shooting star press in NXT showed that. She will be someone who quickly gets back on her feet, possibly even in AEW alongside Tay Conti. Ramier is one of keep an eye on, but you will likely see her on cards as AQA, which is the name she used prior to WWE.
While Ramier is my pick as a hidden breakout star in the female ranks, when it comes to the men released – do not sleep on Gran Metalik. He was best shown in WWE during the Cruiserweight Classic, where he made the finals alongside TJP, and then never was really used to his full potential. It has been years since the King of The Ropes has been truly let loose, and this one actually comes after he requested and was initially denied his release.
This is a man who was a major player in lucha libre stalwart CMLL for many years, and even got some great action in NJPW as Mascara Dorada. This includes a highly recommended match against Kenny Omega at Invasion Attack 2015. Seek this match out, watch it, and try not to be excited at the prospect of a rematch between those two, or about Dorada being unleashed in general.
