After NXT: Halloween Havoc, Toxic Attraction now run the NXT 2.0 Women’s division. Mandy Rose is NXT Women’s Champion, while Jacy Jayne & Gigi Dolin are NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. They have their first challengers already, with Io Shirai stepping up to Mandy Rose, as well as Kayden & Kacy stepping up to back her up. Tonight we have a six woman tag team match, to see if Toxic Attraction is the dominant force their gold implies.

This one would kick the night off, when it could have easily been a main event. Io Shirai is still getting massive reactions from fans – just as beloved as ever. Kayden & Kacy would debut a new entrance through the crowd, something that fans always love. They’re more fun loving and into raves now character wise, which suits them. If only Pat McAfee was here, he’d be all about this.

Io Shirai Nearly Leads Her Team To Victory, But Toxic Attraction Prevails

However once the bell rang, it was time to get serious. Rose & Carter would start the match, and the NXT Women’s Champion would decide to take a cheap shot at Shirai. Dolin would tag in and take the fight to Carter, getting a snapmare into a hard kick to the back. Carter was sent onto the middle rope with a hurricanrana, and Jayne would tag in, hit a knee strike before botching a slingshot neckbreaker.

Shirai would get a tag and take the fight to Jayne, showing what made her a long reigning NXT Women’s Champion. Carter & Catanzaro would show their team work, though it would lead to Jayne seeking out a tag to Rose. Not daunted, Catanzaro sent Rose outside and nailed a sky twister press before calling for Carter & Shirai to hit dives. Carter landed, before Rose cut Shirai off with a huge spinebuster as a commercial break came.

When we returned, Rose would have Catanzaro controlled with a waist lock in the middle of the ring. She would have to do her best to remain in control, as Catanzaro is known for being very good with her escape skills. This would lead to Shirai getting a tag alongside Gigi Dolin. Dolin would nail a tight stunner before tagging in Rose, who would take a flapjack before the Bullet Train knee strike in the corner.

A moonsault would follow, and if not for Dolin & Jayne – it was over. Rose got the tag out, but Dolin missed the senton. Carter tagged in and dropped her with a dropkick. Even Jayne joining the mix couldn’t stop things, as Carter was showing why her nickname is the spitfire. A modified flatliner would set up a dive, but a distraction from Jayne and an abdominal slam driver later – Toxic Attraction wins.

The Scary Queen Of Scots Meets The Warrior Of The Sun

Kay Lee Ray ruled the NXT UK Women’s division for years. A 649 day reign as NXT UK Women’s Champion should have gotten her chances when she came to NXT – but instead she was lost in the shuffle during the NXT 2.0 rebranding. Now, she’s pissed. The roster now has to deal with an angry scary queen of scots – and Sarray is first on the chopping block.

However ‘The Warrior of the Sun’ isn’t someone who goes down easy. Sarray would offer a handshake and suffer from it as she was pulled into a lariat. She’d come back as she rolled through KLR to nail a double stomp – which just angered her. A heavy forearm blow would level Sarray, but she was able to kick out of the following pinfal and regain control. Some charges into the corner would follow, but missing would lead to a DDT out of the corner for a two count.

KLR would lose track of Sarray before a roll up and a massive single leg crab was applied. Despite being bent in two – she would power through to get the ropes. The Fisherman Suplex would land, but KLR would kick out at two. She’d want the Sun Ray dropkick, but missed and fell outside. KLR nailed the Gory Bomb onto the announce desk and a second in the ring for the win.

This was just a taste of the quality that someone like KLR brings to the table. Sarray has likewise been a bit lost in the shuffle, but strong matches like this could get her back on track. Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** 1/2)
