Next week at Halloween Havoc, Io Shirai & Zoey Stark will defend their WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships in a triple threat tag team match. Tonight however, it’s a normal triple threat match – with a member of each team involved. Whoever comes out the victor, will have their chance to set the stipulation for the match next week. Io Shirai would obviously represent the champs, being a former NXT Women’s Champion. Persia Pirotta and Jaci Jayne filled out the field,

Shirai would be keen to get going, and Pirotta just wanted to be the center of attention. She’d hit a big double lariat, and take a running dropkick and hurricanrana in response. Pirotta was dropped and Jayne was after Shirai with a running knee strike, before working with her to keep the powerhouse down. Shirai would get her into a crossface attempt, before being slammed into the mat.
Jayne tried to dive through the ropes, before her feet were caught on the ropes and she face planted because of that. Shirai would take to the sky as well, hitting a picture perfect moonsault, showing her grace. During picture in picture, Pirotta was tied up with punishing submissions on the floor.
Io Shirai Gets To Spin The Wheel
While you can’t lose a triple threat on the outside, they absolutely can humiliate and wear an opponent down. Shirai would dropkick Pirotta in the face, before getting her in the ring and into a dragon sleeper. Pirotta broke out and hit a Samoan Drop, and would apply a bearhug. At this point, Jayne was out of the match after her dive and this was a singles match now.
Pirotta hit a big suplex, before taking forearm shots to the face. She’d catch Shirai with a powerbomb, but only got a two count. Shirai would hit a high kick to the jaw, the 619 and a swan dive dropkick to the midsection for a two count. The crossface failed again, but the German Suplex & Moonsault wouldn’t. Shirai wins, as expected!
Pirotta & Jayne aren’t the best in the world, but Shirai is in that conversation. Jayne getting hurt threw the match into uncharted territory, with Pirotta & Shirai having to call things on the fly – making things more impressive than at a glance. Still sloppy, but props to Shirai & Pirotta for making the best of a bad hand. Match Rating: 2.25/5 (** 1/4)
We will do our best to keep you updated on the condition of Jayne, but the match next week is now chosen by the spin of a wheel. We have a Stairway To Hell ladder match! Who will leave with the gold? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
