It’s an amazing time to be a fan of tag team wrestling. Right now, we have some of the best teams in the world having great matches all around the world. We got a spark of what could be the best tag team feud available at ROH Final Battle: End of An Era, as FTR would show up to brawl with The Briscoes, after some shots being fired back and forth on social media. Now, Dax Harwood has called out The Briscoes to join them on AEW Dynamite.
Dax Harwood Is Not Scared Of Jay Briscoe, Claims FTR Made The Briscoes Relevant
While working to promote their upcoming trios match for AEW, where FTR will team with MJF to take on CM Punk, Darby Allin & Sting – a fan would have a question. That was if FTR was worried about Jay Briscoe showing up to look for some revenge. Harwood would reply with the following.
“Hell no. We came in their house, beat the shit out of them, and made them more relevant in 4 minutes than they’ve been in the last 4 years. They should come the Greensboro and give us their payday from Final Battle. I’m sure I could almost pay my light bill with that money.”
This is just adding more fuel to a fire, which fans are hoping will soon burn bright. These are two teams who should mesh perfectly, and could very well produce multiple five star matches when they finally get in the ring together.
The Briscoes Sadly Come With Some Baggage Thanks To Social Media – Jay Briscoe Has Grown As A Person
The only issue with bringing Jay Briscoe onto TV is his social media baggage. Around eight years ago, he made some majorly homophobic comments on Twitter, which have haunted his career ever since. At the time, Jay would apology following the tweets and donate two paychecks to charity. That information is often left out of the conversation surrounding these tweets.
However, The Briscoes recently locked up with notable LGBT wrestler Effy at a special ROH event, and afterwards Ian Riccaboni would share the following about Jay Briscoe.
“If folks only knew how Jay supports and puts over all talent, specifically LGBTQ+ talent, as a leader in the locker room. He’s the real deal. Mark, too.”
If Jay & Mark are to come to a major TV show like AEW Dynamite – they will need to have a statement ready, as those old tweets could still cause some issues despite everything that followed. They have become infamously attached to the name of Jay Briscoe online, and it won’t take long for someone to try and use them to attack AEW.
People are able to change, especially over a course of eight years. We are always growing, learning, and changing our perspectives. This is human nature, and someone like Jay Briscoe isn’t the same person that they were back in 2013. It doesn’t excuse his initial statements, but many will agree that he has truly grown. It’s just that the internet is written in permanent ink.
