At Survivor Series 2021, Jeff Hardy was one of the shining stars of the Smackdown vs. RAW tag team match. He turned back the clock for a shining performance where he looked like his 2008 run in WWE as the champion. However, he would be released from WWE after he wandered off into the crowd during a tag team match on a house show. The release was rumored to come after Jeff refused to go to rehab.
Jeff Hardy Has Been In A Great Place In 18 Months, WWE Jumped The Gun?
During a Twitch stream, Matt Hardy would share some information from his brother. Being released from WWE was a weight off his shoulders, and there is no concern about his brother. He’s in the best place he’s been in a very long time, and this isn’t like when he was first released in 2003.
There has not been any issues in the past 18 months with him. Jeff has a track record however, and that is why WWE released him when he refused rehab – but they might have jumped the gun.
Rehab Was Refused, Drug Test Was Administered
Rehab was refused, but because Jeff truly didn’t feel he needed it. A drug test was taken after this incident, and results are still pending, but Matt is confident nothing will be found. He had accepted that help from WWE in 2019, but wasn’t going to take that when he didn’t need it.
Part of this might stem from WWE using his substance abuse issues in storylines recently, which Reby & Matt saw as a bad move. Real issues shouldn’t be pulled onto TV like that, and it’s not even the first time WWE has done something like this. All the way back to the attitude era with Hawk of Legion of Doom, real issues were pulled on screen.
Right now, if the drug test comes back clean – it’s expecting AEW will sign Jeff Hardy. Adding a team of legends to their tag team division will be a great time, and it would give another classic from them and The Young Bucks. Jeff wants to do a big Broken Hardy Compound match before long, with Two Sweet vs.Two Sweet being a big option.
