The last couple of years haven’t been good to Vince McMahon as he’s faced numerous accusations of sexual misconduct amid news that he paid multiple women hush money over the years.
After selling the WWE to form a new company called TKO along with UFC, Vince has sold some of his stock as he was removed from control over the WWE’s daily business.
His current title is Executive Chairman of the Board but reports say he hasn’t been involved with the company since September, and now another accusation has come out as a former employee has come forward to file a lawsuit accusing him of sex trafficking and forced her into sexual acts that were “extreme cruelty and degradation.”
WWE’s former head of talent relations, John Laurinaitis, was also named in the lawsuit as initially reported in The Wall Street Journal.
The lawsuit
The lawsuit was filed in Connecticut and it details Janet Grant’s experience from when she worked at WWE’s headquarters. She claimed McMahon made her sign a non-disclosure agreement for the agreed to amount of $3 million, but she said he only paid her $1 million and she wants to void it with the lawsuit.
She alleges that after being hired in 2019, McMahon pushed for “a physical relationship in return for long-promised employment at WWE” according to the court documents as reported by USA Today.
He allegedly shared explicit pictures and videos of her with other WWE employees and urged her into sexual relationships with other staffers, which allegedly included Laurinaitis.
McMahon also allegedly offered her to a WWE star to get him to resign, but their ‘play date’ was canceled due to a snow storm changing the wrestler’s plans.
There are more graphic details available om USA Today we haven’t shared here, but it’s not easy reading.
TKO and McMahon Respond
In response to the lawsuit, a spokesperson for McMahon said:
“This lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and a vindictive distortion of the truth. He will vigorously defend himself.”
TKO Group Holdings issued their own statement to USA Today:
“Mr. McMahon does not control TKO nor does he oversee the day-to-day operations of WWE. While this matter pre-dates our TKO executive team’s tenure at the company, we take Ms. Grant’s horrific allegations very seriously and are addressing this matter internally.”
It’s going to be interesting to see how this all plays out as it’s too early to know for sure, but it’s definitely going to be a difficult road for everyone involved.
This is a developing story and we’ll keep you updated as more information comes out.
