UFC veteran Nate Diaz will not be fighting Khamzat Chimaev any time soon. Diaz told TMZ Sport that the UFC offered him a fight with the Chechen upstart, an offer Diaz found “disrespectful”.
“They’re coming at me with [Chimaev], and I’m like, ‘Hold on, don’t disrespect me like that, trying to offer me a fight with a rookie. I’m cool, you got four fights in the UFC. Don’t even talk my name.
Nate Diaz Turned Down Fight With “Rookie” Khamzat: “don’t disrespect me like that”
Fight the newer guys in the UFC. There’s levels to this, and I don’t even want to hear his name.” Nate Diaz doesn’t see the undefeated Chechen fighter, who boasts four finishes in his four UFC fights to date, as a worthy opponent.
Diaz has made much of his attempt to fight a top-ten opponent, but recent losses suggest that Diaz’s pride may have to take a hit if he wants to work his way back up the rankings.
Khamzat Chimaev, on the other hand, is squarely ranked at number eleven in the UFC’s welterweight rankings. He is widely touted as a potential future champion, possibly even the man to depose the reigning champ and pound-for-pound #1 in the world Kamaru Usman.
Nate Diaz remains a firm fan favorite, and he has an offer for Khamzat. A junior fighter from Diaz’s team by the name of Nick Maximov would be more Khamzat’s speed, says Nate Diaz.
“Hey Khamzat, if you in there, don’t be a b*tch, my boy’s right here, fight him. Anybody in the higher level even playing along to this Khamzat sh*t, you’re a b*tch, too, taking that sh*t. You’re a new rookie. Deal with new people.”
Nate Diaz claims that he doesn’t mind who his next opponent is as long as there’s a single-digit number next to their name. A lucrative trilogy fight with Conor McGregor may be in the works, although McGregor is still recovering from a broken leg sustained in another trilogy fight, this time against Dustin Poirier.
Khamzat today called Nate Diaz out on Twitter yet again, rebuffing suggestions that he’s a “rookie”, and insisting that Diaz is an easy win for him.
“You fake gangster @NateDiaz209 and I don’t care who to fight i’m coming for everybody, where are you all the gangsters and kings ? i’m here to kill everyone i’m the king here i’m a gangster here “
