A TikTok video has gone viral after a student claimed that a professor had refused to let her make up a quiz that she was going to miss, despite the fact that she had tested positive for Covid-19.
TikTok Video Goes Viral After Student Is Punished By Not Being Allowed To Retake A Quiz Despite Testing Positive For Covid-19
It is no secret that the pandemic has disrupted the lives of many people across the globe, none more so than actual students. For the first time in living memory, a significant proportion of education has now been moved online.
Although that is seen as an attempt to allow students to continue with their education, the very fact of the matter is that it has not been enough to prevent oddities such as this from happening.
The student, in question, Jill Stone was rightly been outraged by all of this. In the video here, we can see that she is heard miming the song ‘You don’t care, you never did.’
The video was captioned by the following comments: “This morning I tested positive for covid so I will not be able to attend class for the excel quiz,” to which the professor had replied: “Given the nature of Excel based quiz, I won’t provide make up test.”
Naturally, this did not go down well on social media for the professor. A majority of people felt that this was unfair given that the student was left with a catch 22.
If she attended the class and did not declare the fact that she had tested positive, then how would she be able to justify it if she was caught and other students had gotten sick as a result.
Secondly, by following the rules and declaring that she was positive, she is inadvertently being punished. One person wrote: “This happened to me this spring. Just tell him ‘nvm I’ll just show up’ and watch him change his mind.”
While another person stated: “Go to your dean right now! There’s no way this is university policy bc schools require you to not go to class if you have Covid.”
It is fair to say that the student has been hard done by, given that it was not her fault. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
