At NXT: WarGames, Cameron Grimes was able to defeat Duke Hudson – winning the hair vs. hair contest. However, Hudson did not take the defeat with grace, wearing a wig on his way to the ring to claim that Grimes cheated. All the same, Grimes is ready for one more round, and this time it’ll be No Holds Barred.
Cameron Grimes Gives No Chance For Duke Hudson To Get Started
Grimes would ensure things started off fun, throwing a trash can full of weapons into the ring. Before this one got started, Grayson Waller would hit the arena, greeted by a legion of upset Johnny Gargano fans after his vile attack last week.
Hudson had his wig secured by headgear, shades of Kurt Angle after Edge shaved his head back in the early 2000’s. Grimes kicked him in the face before he even hit the ring, before putting a trash can over his head and hitting a PK. The trash can lid would give Hudson a chance for the comeback in the ring, before Grimes hit the springboard moonsault out of the corner.
Hudson was taken outside of the ring and thrown into the steel steps, before having his wig pulled. It was loose, and Hudson was getting anxious before he nailed a float over German Suplex from the apron to the ring. Grimes rolled outside, and Hudson would use a steel chair before looking for Razors Edge into the barricade.
A counter from Grimes instead had Hudson being sent into the barricade with a hurricanrana. Back in the ring, Grimes looked for some Poetry in Motion using a chair, but was caught into a Uranage right through the chair. Throughout the picture-in-picture break, Hudson maintained control before pulling out a Poker Table and shoving it into the ring.
Hudson Gets Caved In
A quick backbreaker kept Grimes down while the Poker Table was set up. Hudson already put Grimes through one once, and set him up on the top rope. Superplex was set up, but Grimes would keep fighting. He’d send Hudson back into the ring before hitting a crossbody, soaring over the table.
Grimes would be set up on the top rope, before Razor’s Edge again failed to connect. Two superkicks from Grimes would be followed by a Cave-In attempt, which was caught into a powerbomb through the table. However, the table kept Grimes’ shoulders up, giving valuable seconds to recover and survive the pin.
However, damage was done and Hudson grabbed a set of hair clippers, and Grimes fought free before Poisonrana. Hudson took a seat on the chair, and was Caved In through the chair. After the match, the wig was yanked off – with Hudsons bald head being revealed!
An incredibly fun hardcore brawl, with some impressive spots and great moments. Hudson showed his skills here, and Grimes remains the best babyface in NXT. Match Rating: 4/5 (****)
We’d catch up with Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs, who were hitting up a country concert with Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter. Jensen was in his element, but Briggs not as much.
Back to Grayson Waller, last week, NXT 2.0 had an emotional finale. Johnny Gargano had his send-off from the brand, a moment which Grayson Waller saw as his opening. He would drop Gargano with a powerbomb through the announce table, and claimed the now NXT is his show.
He’d start by mocking Gargano talking about betting on himself. However, Gargano overstayed his welcome, and now Waller is the focus of the show. He’d have to talk over a massive “Shut the hell up chant”, and instead showed a video from his Instagram of him soaking in the moment. Waller took out an NXT legend, and then partied all weekend, while the fans complained online.
He’d pull up some tweets from NXT Fans, and Wade Barrett even – but it’s not 2010 and no one cares what he thinks anymore. Waller doesn’t need fans, friends or anyone in this building. All he needs is himself.
