It’s probably not a surprise after the last couple of weeks that WWE superstars AJ Styles and Bobby Lashley are turning face.
Styles seems like an obvious turn after Omos practically admitted the respect and friendship was a one way street and he hammered down Styles to formally shatter their alliance.
With them facing each other on the post Christmas Raw and Styles shifting to NXT to feud with Grayson Weller, it looks like his days as a heel on the main brand are over.
Which means a likely shift to a face role as he puts Grayson and other talent over for the foreseeable future.
Of course, there’s always the possibility that Styles will remain a heel and continue to do his thing. He’s so good at it it’s hard to imagine him as a face, but like Orton he came make the turn with a look.
Things are going to get interesting for him over the next couple of weeks and we can’t wait to see what he’s going to do.
Lashley’s subtle run
One thing that’s pretty cool about Bobby Lashley’s turn is the subtly of it. While Styles’ turn is as subtle as a punch in the nose, Lashley has been building to his turn over a few weeks.
His gauntlet run through Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, and Big E is the stuff faces do, not heels. At least, not without help.
While MVP did attack Big E and Lashley capitalized on it, he also had no problem in letting MVP face Big E in response to his actions.
With Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins’ attempts to keep him out of the championship match being unsuccessful, it set him up for a huge turn.
We doubt he’ll win the title, but now with him, Big E, and Rollins pulled from Sunday’s live shows and Rollins announcing he has Covid any plans for Lashley could be up in the air.
There’s every chance Lashley and Big E aren’t sick and it was just precautionary, so there could still be a triple threat at Day 1, but will that scenario still push him to being a face?
We’re not so sure as Owens as the heel won’t be enough to push him unless things shift drastically tonight and MVP attacks him.
Most likely, the circumstances dictate that Lashley my remain on the fence for another week or two or go full fledged heel once more to put Big E on the defensive.
Do you think Styles and Lashley are turning face or are we reading too much into things?
