At WWE Day One, the first reign as WWE Champion for longtime fan favorite Big E would come to an end. The deck was stacked against him, as a one on one match against Seth Rollins would eventually come to include Kevin Owens, Bobby Lashley, and Brock Lesnar – who would walk away with the gold. However, Big E is determined to bounce back in a big way, and refuses to just become another guy on the roster.
Big E Refuses To Go Back To Being Just Another Name On The Roster
While speaking with Sports Illustrated, Big E would discuss his plans for 2022 now that he is no longer WWE Champion.
“I’m not comfortable being just a guy on the roster, I’m not good with going back to the way it was before. I don’t want to position it as learning from Kofi’s missteps, I know what his intentions were, and mine would have been the same. He didn’t do anything wrong. But I have learned that losing this title hurts. I love being myself and being entertaining, but you can’t go from dropping a world championship to saying everything is golden. This title meant a lot to me, and it meant to a lot of people, too. My focus is clawing back to that spot.”
A Favorite For The 2022 Royal Rumble?
With the Royal Rumble right around the corner, we can expect Big E to make a strong run – and perhaps even emerge as the victor of the thirty man over the top rope match. He proved during his reign that he is no slouch, even going toe to toe with Roman Reigns at Survivor Series. Despite falling to Lesnar during the Fatal Five Way match – he never backed down from The Beast Incarnate.
Fans have known that Big E is a potential top name for years. His time with The New Day has come with some incredible performances, and his reign was strong despite it’s ending. WWE has a star on their hands, and they’d be fools to have Big E fall back down the card. Unlike Kofi Kingston, who won the WWE Championship near the end of his prime – Big E has just hit his, and will be hard to stop.
