Two of the screen’s most iconic figures could eventually come face-to-face as Dwayne Johnson of WWE and film superstardom challenged Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster this week.
Elmo Drags The Rock and Cookie Monster Into His Rocco Beef
It’s no surprise that The Rock has a strong presence on social media. There’s always something new on his Twitter or Instagram whether it’s words of encouragement, his workouts, or promoting a new project. So, when he responded to the long-running children’s show character Elmo—yes, a few Sesame Street characters are on Twitter—about a semi-innocent question asking:“
Dwayne Johnson Could Open A New SmackDown Hotel on Sesame Street After Challenging Cookie Monster
“Has anybody ever seen a rock eat a cookie?” the Muppet wrote. “Elmo is just curious.”
See, there has been a kind of ongoing social media discussion about Elmo and Rocco being on good terms. It stemmed from a 2004 episode where Elmo, Zoe, and Rocco the pet rock were dealing with the last cookie. Zoe tells Elmo that Rocco said he wanted the cookie but a selfish Elmo says “Rocco’s a rock, Zoe! Rocco won’t know the difference!” Which…well, Elmo is correct on both accounts.
The fuzzy red character’s presence on Twitter is that of a mischievous troublemaker that makes sly comments and hides behind being friendly. Before asking that question, he cleared the air about his and Zoe’s friendship in response to the clip saying that he and Zoe “practiced sharing and are still best buds forever! Elmo loves you Zoe! Ha ha ha!”
Elmo didn’t really address the issue of Rocco only posting “Elmo doesn’t want to talk about Rocco.”
Dwayne Johnson Challenges Cookie Monster
To the cookie question, Dwayne Johnson responded to Elmo and even got in some promo for his Cheat Meal training.
Challenging the O.G of Sesame Street was pretty bold by the Brahma Bull who doesn’t only eat cookies but pie as well, as many should remember. Cookie Monster was quick to respond by tweeting “Me say cookie challenge accepted”.
Could we see the anticipated match between The Rock and his cousin Roman Reigns pushed aside for the bigger showdown of legends in a ring war against Cookie Monster? Maybe there could be some segments or a co-hosting thing if WWE wanted to strengthen its presence with small children.
What is known is that WWE loves its celebrity involvement at WrestleMania and the event does run for two days now. As unpredictable and random as 2021 was, we shouldn’t be surprised by anything in 2022.
