With a landmark, award magnet of album in 30, Adele is currently the straw that stirs the drink in music. As a result, she’s been doing a lot of interviews including with vlogger Nikkie de Jager, star of popular YouTube channel NikkieTutorials.
Adele Guest Stars on NikkieTutorials
She was on the channel to chat and do a makeover video and one of the questions asked was if she watched the Real Housewives shows.
Adele Shares Her Dislike of Reality TV and LOVE of Dwayne Johnson with NikkiTutorials
Adele gave a legendary response staring that she didn’t and that “I can’t. I know a lot of people love it, I can’t…because my brain will die. I can’t.” Her interest in the Real Housewives franchise is so low that she doesn’t know who any of the personalities are and wouldn’t feel like she could “start from the beginning when it’s been on for so long.”
That isn’t to say that she’s never watched the show. She gave an episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey a try and found it to be “too much” and concluded that it was just something she couldn’t bother to watch. The Grammy Award-winning “Queen of Soul” stamped her dislike of the show and genre by saying she’d “rather watch a wildlife program.”
In her defense, Meerkat Manor—which debuted a year before The Real Housewives of Orange County—was a popular show that featured natural suspense and drama surrounding rodents. Some of these wildlife shows become television phenomena that people tune into. It’s kind of weird at times.
Adele appears to just not be a fan of reality television at all as she dismissed other shows mentioned during her time with Nikkie de Jager. She noted that her ex-husband and the father of her son Angelo “loves stuff like that”.
Outside of reality TV talk, Adele also had a humorous take on why she drank more before making changes saying that drinking “makes other people more interesting”–which I’ll co-sign and that “People at parties are bloody boring.” She also said that she was a big fan of The Rock and wishes that he was her dad.
Overall, it was a really fun and entertaining collab/interview with some candid but humorous insights into the singer. It was more laid back and not ultra-serious—I recommend it.
Currently, 30 is in the top 10 of 28 certification regions, number one in the U.S, UK, and 21 other countries. The album has gone certified gold—moving 100,000 or more copies—in her native UK.
