Memes have gone viral on social media after they appeared to be mocking the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Memes Go Viral After The CDC Announces Changes In Quarantine Rules-‘You Can Fill A Theme Park With Dinosaurs Again’
It is no secret that the pandemic has created a lot of confusion with there being an increasing number of variants that have emerged.
And with that, that has been a mass discrepancy over regulations such as when people should be tested, or the irregularities with quarantine rules.
And it was the latter that had started to bug people, when the CDC announced a change in their rules concerning quarantine.
In an official statement given on behalf of the CDC, a representative said: “[The] CDC is shortening the recommended time for isolation from 10 days for people with COVID-19 to five days, if asymptomatic, followed by five days of wearing a mask when around others.”
The response on social media was one of ridicule. A large proportion of people simply could not understand why there was such a huge difference between the quarantine rules, by virtue of the fact that a virus is a virus, regardless of what you call it.
One person on Twitter wrote: “The CDC just announced you don’t actually have to wash your hands, just get the fingies a little wet.”
While another person stated: “The CDC just announced you can fill a theme park with dinosaurs again if you really learned your lesson last time.”
While it is understandable that people are frustrated, there is a much bigger issue at play here. There is a clear suggestion that people have become unhappy by the fact that they are having to abide by rules, which they do not necessarily understand.
As such, this demonstrates that there could be a loss in confidence which is only going to create further tension at a time when the globe is divided about the way the pandemic should be handled.
Regardless of what you think about the CDC, one thing for sure is that people’s resolve is being tested. And there is a feeling that something has to give because of further unrest that could potentially follow.
