WWE has gone ahead this year and announced some special entrants in the WWE Royal Rumble. Just weeks away from their next major PPV event, WWE is ensuring that fans have less surprises than ever for one of their biggest events of the year. Names such as Impact Knockouts Champion Mickie James, Nikkie Bella, Lita, Summer Rae and more will all be in the mix for the Royal Rumble. However, one of the biggest modern stars in WWE will not be, as Sasha Banks is on the injured list.
Sasha Banks Is Out Of Action Until March
In an update from WWE.com, we would get the following information on the status of Sasha Banks.
“Sasha Banks suffered a foot injury Sunday evening at a WWE Live! event in Fayetteville, NC. After seeking emergency medical attention, it was determined nothing was broken. Sasha underwent an MRI and it was discovered she has a bruised calcaneus bone. She is at home recovering and undergoing physical therapy. She is expected to be out of action for 6-8 weeks.”
This will put her out of action past the Royal Rumble, meaning Banks has not been in the match since 2018.
Another Blow To Smackdown Live
This is a major blow to the WWE Women’s division on Smackdown Live, which was already thin before Toni Storm walked out. Now with Sasha Banks out, there are less contenders than ever for the Smackdown Women’s Champion, Charlotte Flair. Some call ups from NXT would generally be the answer, but their women’s division is equally thin – and names like Raquel Gonzalez are not at the level they should be after lengthy times in developmental.
WWE have really shot themselves in the foot with their mass of releases in 2021, and now the effects are finally being felt in 2022. The second talent gets hurt or otherwise taken out of action, things quickly start to spiral. Right now, WWE has Naomi feuding with both Charlotte Flair & Sonya Deville on Friday Nights, to make up for a lack of talent.
