The WWE is notorious for shredding their tag team division as they use it to help develop singles stars, and then they put random stars together to add to the division.
Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t, but in this case we think they’ve struck gold.
Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens are an unlikely pair given that Rollins put Owens into a position where had had to turn heel, but over the last few weeks they’ve come to work together and are best friends.
Or best frenemies as it’s only a matter of time before things melt down between them.
But what makes them special is their overflowing charisma. It’s fun watching them go back and forth as they plan for their best advantage in the championship matches for the WWE Championship.
More to come
With Bobbly Lashley set to face Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, Owens and Rollins are the odd men out and there are plenty of rumors saying they’re going to form a tag team and go after that championship.
This will add to the Raw tag team division that has roughly five teams, give or take, following AJ Styles and Omos breaking up.
They’re proven commodities that work well together and as former champions they’ll add some prestige to the division.
It’s hard to imagine them not getting a solid push as a heel team to challenge RK-Bro once the storyline with the Alpha Academy is done. And to be fair, they’re probably then best chance at getting the title off Orton and Riddle.
Channeling their inner Sami Zayn
One thing that’s for sure is we don’t think they’ll be a dominate tag team. Like their quest for the WWE title showed, they’ll be more cerebral and try to out plan their opponents.
So, we expect them to resemble Sami Zayn during his Intercontinental Championship run where they’ll happily lead a chase and win by disqualification.
We’ve recently saw the same ploy put into place as Dolph Ziggler challenged Damian Priest for the United States Championship.
Nothing will be straight forward with them going into, during, and after their matches and it’ll make them the most entertaining team to watch and even cheer for.
It’s going to be fun seeing a heel tag team outshine the rest once more, but that’s dependent on WWE Creative staying out of their way and allow their natural creativity to flow.
What do you think about Rollins and Owens being a tag team and possible champions?
