For the last year, Alexa Bliss has been fun taking over for Bray Wyatt after betraying him at WrestleMania and then Wyatt’s release when she adopted Lily.
While it made no sense given how Wyatt gave her the power, it did give some entertaining storylines as Lily went from being an imaginary friend to a possessed doll.
Now that Alexa is beginning her return to Raw through vignettes with her seeing a psychiatrist, Lily appears to be part of her personality, though possession is still a viable story angle.
We’re not sure how a psychiatrist will help if it’s a possession angle, but we expect this storyline to wind down pretty soon.
The Goddess returns
There are reports that the WWE filed a trademark for “The Goddess” and it could be signaling the end of Alexa’s Lily persona.
It could also be used in conjunction with Lily to create a whole new character, so we’ll have to wait and see.
Lily has definitely been hit or miss with the fans, though the doll sold out in near record time. If we base popularity off of merchandise sales, Lily could arguably be up there with The Fiend had they had more dolls ready.
This opens a realm of possibilities if WWE Creative are allowed to do their thing.
There’s a legitimate argument that Lily was better suited to the Thunderdome Era as they could have outfit changes and all during matches and edit them together.
It’s a bit harder on live tv, but with some tweaking it can still work. The Undertaker and Fiend had effects in their appearances, so it’s not any different with Lily and the backstage interactions can be previously recorded and played at the right time.
What about Lily
While Lily’s future is up in the air from the fans’ standpoint, it’s going to be up to WWE Creative to put together a compelling storyline.
One of the main complaints about WWE Creative is the lack of continuity in their storylines, and having Alexa return still having a connection to Lily makes it difficult to envision the story ending with a defeat at Charlotte Flair’s hands.
Having her reached and redeemed by someone close to her like Nikki Cross (the ASH character seems to have run its course) would make more sense.
One thing they could do is have the destruction of the doll released the spirit, so to speak, and it could take shape as another wrestler and she and Alexa could feud.
It’d be a fun good vs. evil storyline as they’d battle to be the top force, kinda like the Undertaker vs. Fake Undertaker.
Do you think The Goddess is back or are there other plans in the works.
