We are just a few short weeks away from the annual Royal Rumble. Since 1988, it’s become one of the most anticipated events in the WWE calendar – and in 2018, only grew larger. Not only did the men get a massive battle royale, but now the women got the same chance. Asuka, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair & Bianca Belair have all since won the match, and 2022 is a very hard match to call. However, we can’t expect many surprises in this match – especially not from WWE NXT 2.0.
WWE Doesn’t Want To Use Many Women From NXT 2.0
While in general, WWE would send a few surprises up to Royal Rumble matches from their third brand of NXT, that might not be the case in 2022. Names like Pete Dunne & Tommaso Ciampa are expected in the men’s Royal Rumble match, but the women’s match might not get the same treatment. During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alverez would reveal the following.
“I was told, and you know when you’re told something by WWE you can report it but what you’re told yesterday is not the same as what actually happens often. But I was told that they didn’t really want to use a lot of women from NXT. That’s probably changed by now as they have 11 women remaining.”
Their Women’s Roster Is Lacking In Experience – Not Ready For The Chaos Of A Royal Rumble
This sadly makes perfect sense. While Raquel Gonzalez, Io Shirai, Kay Lee Ray & Dakota Kai could find their way to the Royal Rumble, lots of their talent are simply not ready for a match on this scale. NXT 2.0 has a very inexperienced women’s roster. Names like Amari Miller, Lash Legend, Tiffany Stratton, Indi Hartwell, Persia Perez, and more are talented – and in time could be major players, but lack the skills to function in a chaotic match like a Royal Rumble.
WWE will undoubtedly find a way to fill the Royal Rumble, and the best of the best from NXT will be needed. Who do you expect to see fill the 11 open spots in the women’s 2022 Royal Rumble? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
