The current WWE roster is in a weird place in 2022. It’s absolutely stacked with some of the best wrestlers in the world today, and yet a lot of them fail to consistently reach the top of the card. One name who has had a series of ups and downs in WWE is Finn Balor. Once viewed as a world champion, WWE has changed their mind many times with Balor, and now have settled on him not being a star.
Finn Balor Recently Challenged For The WWE Universal Championship – Now Is Viewed As Someone To Help Build Younger Talents
This comes just months after Finn Balor was viewed as a top challenger for WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. Bringing out his Demon gimmick, he gave a fantastic performance – including a very cinematic comeback sequence. He’d lose after the top rope broke before he nailed the finishing blow, something which was never explained on TV.
This wasn’t his first time going for the top title in WWE, having been the first ever WWE Universal Champion, and a two time NXT Champion – however, Balor might not come near the top of the card again. Recently, WWE have decided that the real potential of Finn Balor is as someone to help enhance younger talents in WWE. A report from WrestlingNews.co from WWE would say the following.
“Yea, Finn was moved into the spot that Jeff Hardy had. He’s just there now to help get over the younger guys. There was a pitch to make him heel but that was weeks ago and I haven’t heard much about it since then. Vince never saw Finn as more than just a mid card guy. Heyman would have pushed him to the moon but Vince just never saw it. Austin Theory is going to get time to shine in the Rumble match. Last I heard was he will be in the final 4 or 5 at the end of the match.”
The Dolph Ziggler Fate Has Been Circling Balor For Years
This was seen recently on Monday Night RAW, where he would be on the losing end of a match against Austin Theory. At 40 years old, it’s not shocking that WWE would rather have him help build the future, even though they’re currently pushing the 45 year old Bobby Lashley as a top star – with him facing off with Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble 2022.
Balor has the ability to bring the best out of anyone he faces, even getting some great performances from Karrion Kross during his second time in WWE Balors future could be similar to that of Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler was a former world champion, who quickly fell down the card. He would still claim midcard and tag team gold – and get chances at top titles, but never was able to win it again.
Balor has been falling into the same fate in recent years, and now with WWE giving up on him as a main event player – it’s all but sealed. Do you think WWE is making a mistake by not keeping Finn Balor at the top of the card? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
