The term Forbidden Door looks to be opening for the WWE now as they don’t want to miss out on the fun and the chance to get more eyes on the Royal Rumble.
Their first move was to announce Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Mickie James for the women’s Royal Rumble match. It was a surprising move most of us didn’t ever expect to see given the WWE’s refusal to work with other companies.
While it can be argued this is nothing more than the WWE drawing eyes to their event, there’s nothing wrong with that as it’s why every company does it. It’ll also help Impact and the NWA, where Mickie is signed to.
Probably the biggest surprise is because Mickie was released and her things sent to her in a garbage bag, which she quickly shared on social media.
And now there are reports the WWE might bring in at least one outsider for the men’s Rumble match.
Had more than 1 source this weekend, w/o me directly asking, state they believe WWE will try for an “unexpected” forbidden door entrant for the Men’s Royal Rumble. Personally I’m skeptical it happens, but I can confirm WWE is at least open to the idea. Which is exciting enough.

Who will it be?
WrestleVotes broke the news/rumor and it’s a promising sign that the WWE is willing to break down their decades’ long walls.
“Had more than 1 source this weekend, w/o me directly asking, state they believe WWE will try for an ‘unexpected’ forbidden door entrant for the Men’s Royal Rumble. Personally I’m skeptical it happens, but I can confirm WWE is at least open to the idea. Which is exciting enough.”
This opened the door for fans to begin listing their dream appearances, and there are some great choices.
Since Mickie is taking part, it makes sense that they’ll ask for another champion. So, for us that choice would come down to AEW’s Adam Page and Impact Wrestling’s Moose.
Page would fit in with the majority of WWE wrestlers, but Moose recently turned down an offer from the WWE to stay with Impact.
To be honest, we don’t think it’ll be them. Since they already have the Knockouts Champion they’ll want another former WWE star to help draw fans’ attention.
Two of the likeliest possibilities for us are Kenny Omega and Chirs Jericho. Omega wrestled with the WWE from 2005 to 2006 in Deep South Wrestling under a developmental contract, and his huge fan following would definitely give WWE some more viewers.
Jericho left on good terms and the pop when he’d come out would override any boos. He’s still a fan favorite like others before him.
While this will be a good thing for everyone, we’re confident neither one of the outsiders brought in will win. Vince McMahon may have opened up a little, but we don’t think he changed his mind that much.
If he did, we’d love to see Moose enter and win so he can face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. Though the odds of that happening are the same as an outsider winning the Rumble.
Who do you think the possible addition will be?
