The Inner Circle is not okay. Eddie Kingston has driven a wedge between Chris Jericho and the tag team of Santana & Ortiz. They came to the meeting of The Inner Circle last week, but to their own new music – and spoke out against Jericho. They are sick of fighting all of his battles, and putting their own careers on standby in the meantime.
Jericho claims he put them in main events, and it was them who failed to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships from The Young Bucks. However, speaking about their issues won’t solve anything – but a fight might. So now, Santana & Ortiz will take on Chris Jericho & Jake Hager in a tag team clash.
Eddie Kingston Is Back – And Is In The Corner Of Santana & Ortiz
Just before this match got started, Eddie Kingston would make his AEW return – looking like the cat who caught the canary. He was in the corner of Santana & Ortiz tonight, and Santana would stand up to Jericho to start this match. They’d throw some blows to start this fight, before Santana ran Jericho down with a lariat.
Jericho took refuge in the corner before taking a rushing elbow to the face. Santana set up a dropkick to the back of the neck, landing perfectly. Ortiz got the tag and planted Jericho with a DDT before Santana flipped off his back with the moonsault. A fisherman suplex would follow, getting a two count.
Big Jake Hager would get the tag, and Ortiz was not scared to throw strikes with the MMA fighter who looked to be in the best shape of his career. Ortiz would work to cut Hager down with a dropkick, only to be tossed with a belly to belly suplex, before Hager quickly followed up with a Hager Bomb.
Santana & Ortiz Defeat Chris Jericho & Jake Hager
Jericho would get the tag and hit a picture perfect dropkick, catching Ortiz right in the face. Ortiz was getting isolated in the corner, with quick tags keeping Jericho & Hager fresh. Add in trying to get around the walking brick wall that is Hager, and the pressure was on. Jericho hit some lariats in the neutral corner, and Ortiz fought back with some knife edge chops – but the lariats took their toll.
A vertical suplex was nailed on Ortiz, who shot back with a lariat before tagging in Santana. He’d meet Hager and was able to go blow for blow to set up the basement dropkick. Jericho rushed in with a Codebreaker, and Hager followed up with a spinebuster for a two count.
Santana would set Hager to the floor, before hitting a knee to the face of Jericho.
Jericho would come back with a combo before the Lionsault was attempted. Ortiz caught Jericho in the act, and allowed Santana to hit a Russian Leg Sweep off the ropes. Street Sweeper would land, and Jericho just barely kicked out at three. Their version of Poetry in Motion was caught into the Walls of Jericho, and Hager took Ortiz away.
Santana was able to reach the ropes to save the match, before Eddie Kingston took a triangle dropkick. Judas Effect missed Santana, and a Discus Lariat took Jericho down for the three count!
After the bell, Eddie Kingston would start a fight with Chris Jericho. Is this a match for Revolution? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
