Fans of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have slammed the press treatment that Prince Andrew has received, in comparison to the couple, following his sexual assault case being settled.
Fans Of Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Slam The Media Over Their Favourable Coverage Of Prince Andrew
Andrew, for his part, had managed to avoid a trial after settling outside of court with Virginia Giuffre. The latter had been a victim of trafficking at the hands of Jeffrey Epstein, after which she claimed that she was forced to have sex with Andrew.
Although Andrew settled outside of court, the very fact of the matter is that this could be seen as an admission of guilt. After all, it would make no sense to settle unless there was a reason to hide something.
And the failure by the press to pick up on this has been something that has irked the fans of Meghan and Harry, especially since they had been slammed following their Oprah Winfrey interview which was a lot less ‘contentious’ in comparison to Andrew’s alleged behavior.
One person wrote: “Your regular reminder that Harry and Meghan got excommunicated from the royal family for eating avocados and asking politely not to be racially abused.”
While another person stated: “I’m still waiting for the media to give Prince Andrew the same energy they give Meghan and Harry.”
This criticism is valid in light of the following things. First of all, reports suggest that Queen Elizabeth could potentially be involved in ensuring that Andrew’s settlement is paid.
This would be highly controversial indeed, given that the taxpayer may be funding someone who had done a lot of wrongdoing.
Secondly, there is no sign that Andrew will get canceled from the UK, unlike Harry and Meghan who have not returned to the UK as a couple since their exit.
And this was best summed up by the following comment: “Waiting for a certain section of society to blame Meghan Markle for Prince Andrew settling out of court in 5, 4, 3, 2…”
With Andrew’s case now having been settled, time will tell whether the media does ask any extra questions. After all, people still have some answered questions that need addressing.
