Ring of Honor was working hard to bring their women’s division back to the forefront of the industry in 2021. This would result in a tightly contested tournament to crown the first ever ROH Women’s World Champion, which replaced the old Women Of Honor title. The finals of the tournament saw Rok-C defeat Miranada Alize, with Rok-C becoming the inaugural champion.
However, ROH would shift their focus soon after – leading to all contracted talents being released. After Rok-C lost the ROH Women’s World Championship to Impact Wrestling’s Deonna Purrazzo, she would have a second WWE try-out – and now has been offered a contract.
Rok-C Had Two WWE Tryouts, Is Expected To Accept Contract Offer
Rok-C had her first contact with WWE back in December 2021. She was part of a try-out class for the WWE Performance Center, and would be called back for a second try-out soon after. Dave Metlzer would report that WWE has since offered Rok-C a contract, with her likely to accept the deal.
Rok-C is only 20 years old, but has been involved in professional wrestling since she started training at just 13 years old. When she was 16 years old, she started training under WWE Hall of Famer – Booker T. This gives her almost a decade of experience at only 20 years old, and has built up a reputation for Rok-C being a bit of a prodigy in professional wrestling.
WWE Is Mostly Moving Away From Indy Wrestlers
This comes at an interesting time, as WWE has been noted to have moved away from signing indy style wrestlers to developmental contracts. WWE has been more keen on signing athletes and training them in the ‘WWE style’ of wrestling, with some examples on NXT TV being Tiffany Stratton and Lash Legend.
However, names like Rok-C who are still young clearly have a chance of getting noticed. You still need more experienced names to fill spots on TV, and someone like Rok-C could be put right to TV – and even serve as a mentor of sorts for those who are just starting their training. If Rok-C joins WWE, we can expect her to be a contender for the NXT Women’s Championship within 2022.
