Lance Storm will be rejoining IMPACT Wrestling as a coach and producer. The 52-year-old former WWE Tag Team champion confirmed the news after IMPACT announced that he would be over the Gut Check on March 6 at the Arnold Classic:
The Gut Check at the Arnold Classic will be run by longtime wrestler Lance Storm and current IMPACT Wrestling personality John E. Bravo.
In the early 2000s, Lance Storm retired from in-ring action to focus on his wrestling school which would become the Storm Wrestling Academy. He would come out of retirement for one-off bouts throughout the rest of the decade and into the 2010s for companies such as Ring of Honor, the Stampede-revival company Hart Legacy Wrestling, One Pro Wrestling, and Blood, Sweat & Ears.
His last bout would be against Matt Hardy at the WrestleCon SuperShow 2016. Following that, he returned his focus to training and other projects such as co-hosting the Killing the Town podcast with manager and eventual IMPACT Wrestling executive producer Don Callis.
Lance Storm Returns to IMPACT as a Producer and Coach
Storm originally joined IMPACT in 2019 in a backstage role but was also on-screen as a guest referee. He wouldn’t be with the company long before returning to WWE in November, continuing his work as a producer. He would be released in April 2020 as a result of COVID-19 budget cuts.
In a few interviews, he has expressed an interest in returning to the ring. At the moment, the producer/coach role looks to be the main reason he was brought back. However, IMPACT is welcoming towards veterans returning to the ring as evidenced by Ken Shamrock’s return to not on the IMPACT fold but wrestling as a whole in 2019—during the time when Storm was first in the company.
