It’s always tricky when it comes to each of us choosing which wrestlers that go on our Mount Rushmore of wrestlers as we have our favorites.
There are so many different ways to choose our favorites, it’s often easier to separate them into two different columns of who are the biggest draws and who are he best in the ring.
There are still plenty of room for people to disagree, but it’s always cool to hear one of the best currently talk about who they think are the best and Seth Rollins did just that recently.
Biggest earners
Rollins appeared on the Pat McAfee Show and added his Mount Rushmore, and he separated it into the top draws and best in the ring instead of personal favorites.
He explained his reason perfectly. Special thanks to Inside the Ropes for the following transcripts.
“In our business, which is the entertainment business, money-drawing is the biggest thing. So if we’re talking there, you gotta start with Hogan.
“You gotta put Cena there, Rock and Austin. Top four.”
I can’t argue with those picks, though there’s a definite case to be made for Ric Flair and Sting among a few others if we include other companies,
But keeping it strictly WWE, Bruno Sammartino definitely deserves honorable mention as it’s been claimed he sold out Madison Square Garden more than anyone else. Andre the Giant is another as he was a draw no matter what company he wrestled with.
In ring work
This is where the entertainment takes a backseat to the more technical based skillset, but it’s always fun to see who rates and Rollins didn’t disappoint.
“Shawn Michaels, Eddie Guerrero, Bret ‘the Hitman’ Hart.”
Hi fourth pick was a bit surprising given he’s with AEW at the moment, but Bryan Danielson is a former WWE star, so he still fits.
“Number four, controversial pick because he’s still active, Bryan Danielson. I actually think in-ring he’s one of the greatest of all time. And I think when it’s all said and done, he’ll be up there with the guys.”
This is a good list, though Shawn Michaels did get an eyebrow raise out of me. While he was entertaining, there’s no way he’s in Owen Hart’s spot, but that’s my opinion.
Over all, Rollins has a good list that we can understand his choices and even agree in most cases.
