Brock Lesnar is known to take his opponents on a tour of Suplex City as well as a solid run as an MMA fighter, but it looks like he got an early start.
Most of us know at what moment we changed our outlook on things or what helped make us what we are. It nearly always comes down who we associate with, whether it’s friends or family members.
There have been times where Lesnar has shown flashes on a mean streak and a look, and it’s always been chalked up to him being in character, but he could be drawing on something more.
Get the tables!
When Lesnar appeared on The Pat McAfee show, he talked about his life growing up and how he grew up fighting with his older brothers. Special thanks to @wrestling_mpw for the transcript.
“I was fighting as a kid. The local people from Webster, South Dakota will tell you the Lesnar family were fighters. I was six years younger than my two older brothers who were getting out of jail on Monday mornings and going to school because of street fights. I grew up with that stigma. We went to street dances, I went there to fight. That’s what we did. That’s what I did, anyway. Then it was girls and have a couple of drinks.
“My mom said, ‘You have to make some money with this stuff.’ It put my mom and dad through hell. We were fighting all the time. My brothers were fighting and it was World War 3. I fought my older brothers, put them through kitchen tables when I finally grew up and had enough of their shit. I was probably 18. I put my brother through the China cabinet. My mom and dad just cracked a beer as was, ‘ah, this needed to happen.”
Making it work
Lesnar learned how to make money fighting, and he’s going to go down as one of the best ever in professional wrestling.
While it may be scripted, there are always moments when someone gets out of hand or they may agree to get more physical to put their performance over.
It’s always great to hear what helped form some of our favorites into the stars they are, and it helps us connect with them on another level.
It also adds another layer when he was asked what he’d do if a fan attacked him like one did Seth Rollins and he reportedly dared them to.
Nothing beats added layers.
