More from viral TikTok as TikToker @ivse has gotten some pushback from a post about getting accused of cheating on an eproctored exam.
Student Accused of Cheating on Canvas-Eproctored Exam Takes to TikTok
With COVID-19 hobbling in-school teaching and testing worldwide, online learning and testing have become the norm. Canvas is an online course service that oversees online exams and essays while alerting teachers or exam issuers of possible plagiarism and cheating. When it comes to Canvas, an examinee can be deemed as a cheater if they leave the exam page.
That’s just what happened to @ivse—known as Santa Monica College student “juli” on TikTok. Her video shows juli’s screen in the background and says that she “stopped viewing the Canvas quiz-taking page”. The video uses audio from the popular drama Euphoria and features the caption “You’re cheating on. A proctored exam?” It seems that she was also questioned by a teacher and had stopped viewing the quiz page 28 times.
Canvas is able to identify activities during exams such as inactivity, opening and going to other tabs, and so on. As for the comments, most pretty much sided with juli cheating and offered advice on cheating Canvas or were just against eproctored exams. There were a few who questioned why @ivse was cheating in the first place—but it was a smattering of commenters. The video was posted on February 17 and has gotten over 2.3 million views so far.
For those wondering about how juli did on the exam: she scored 75 out of 168. In a response video to viewer bryand783 which said “All that hard work for a 75/168”, she posted a reply video. Posted on February 22, the video starts with juli apologizing for leading viewers on and shows that she scored 138 out of 168.
