Early in March, Kim Kardashian had gotten a lot of fans offended about a statement she made. During an interview with Variety about the new Hulu show—the Kardashians, the Keeping Up with the Kardashian Alum told her audience that she had the “best advice” for women: She then went on to say, “get your f-king ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.”
Kim Kardashian Is Sorry For Telling Women To “Get Your F-king Ass Up And Work”
Kim K’s advice turned out to be one that the majority of people did not appreciate as several people called out the Fashion Icon terming her as insensitive and disrespectful towards working women. Several people believed that Kim could only make such a statement as she was born into a privileged family.
Keeping Up With The Kardashians Alum, Kim Kardashian Clarifies Her “Nobody Wants To Work” Statement That Led To Backlash From Fans
Actress Jameela Jamil tweeted agreeing to this narrative; “I think if you grew up in Beverly Hills with super successful parents in what was simply a smaller mansion…nobody needs to hear your thoughts on success/work ethic.”
Also, the soundbite from the interview was turned into a viral meme as a way to mock Kim’s statement. Reacting to this, the Reality TV star when speaking to co-Anchor Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, explained that her statement was taken out of context.
“Well, that statement that I said was without questions and conversation around it, it became a sound bite, really without context.” She went on to explain that in the now-viral video, she was responding to a question that held the notion that after being in business for 20 years she was only “famous for being famous.”
The Fashion icon further clarified that her statement meant no harm, and she was only trying to explain, based on experience, that using a reality show to launch a business still requires hard work as nothing is automatic. “It wasn’t a blanket statement towards women or to feel like I don’t respect the work or think that they don’t work hard. I know that they do; it was taken out of context but I am really sorry if it was received that way.” Kim said.
