In December, Kim Kardashian filed to be declared legally single. There was resistance from Kanye West but the request has gone through and Kim K will be legally recognized by her birth name.
Kim Kardashian Is Divorced from Kanye West, Now Legally Single
There was a hiccup in the paperwork as West had changed his legal name to Ye but that was cleared up without incident. While there were no conditions on Kim’s side, Kanye’s side did have three conditions to the divorce.
The only one that was accepted by the judge was that reimbursement that is supposed to be divided will be put aside in case one of them dies. That condition sounded reasonable enough, however, the conditions to not transfer assets Kardashian has in trust and waiving “marital privilege” if she remarried were axed.
If the third condition sounds confusing, TMZ explained it as meaning “a new spouse would not have to testify about communications he had with her.” Honestly, it’s not surprising that these two weren’t accepted.
In wrapping up the divorce hearing, Kardashian was asked if there were problems in her marriage with Kanye West and if the union could be saved via marriage counseling. The SKIMS owner answered “Yes” and “No” respectively.
Thus ends the almost eight-year marriage of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. All of the public declarations of wanting his wife back, pleas to reunite the family, and odd acting out that showed otherwise didn’t get Kardashian back in the end.
However, that doesn’t spell the end for any hostilities towards Kim and her current boyfriend Pete Davidson. With Kanye dropping a music video to the diss track “Eazy” earlier today, it appears that West isn’t done.
