The New Japan Cup did not kick off perfectly for CHAOS. Both YOH & Toru Yano have been knocked out of the field in the first roun, but Kazuchika Okada survived – and Tomohiro Ishii will do his best tomorrow against Shingo Takagi. He’s got a chance to test The Dragon tonight, as CHAOS meets L.I.J in eight man tag team action.
Shingo Takagi Wants To Fight Tomohiro Ishii Right Now
Ishii & Shingo would almost come to blows before the bell even rang, not wanting to wait to get their hands on each other. YOH would petition to start the match, and Hiromu Takahashi would start for L.I.J, and they’d waste no time getting the pace up. Takahashi was sent running, before YOH tripped him and hit a dropkick.
Shingo & Ishii would start to brawl on the outside, before Yano got the tag alongside SANADA. Yano was taken down to the mat, and Shingo would tag in and apply a hammerlock. Shingo hit some knee strikes before hitting an elbow strike on Ishii on the apron, pissing The Stone Pitbull off.
Tetsuya Naito tagged in and hit the leg sweep into the dropkick in the corner. Okada would get a tag to save Yano, and would pick up where he left off with Naito in their recent match over the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship as he spiked Naito on his head with the DDT. Neckbreaker was set, but Naito slipped free.
Los Ingobernables de Japon Stand Tall In Eight Man Tag
Money Clip would be locked in, but Naito was able to find the top rope – and fought back with a snap armdrag and dropkick to the back of the neck. Okada hit a Big Boot, before making the tag to Ishii. Shingo would match him in the middle of the ring, before crushing the throat with a lariat in the corner. Forearms were traded in the middle of the ring, before they moved to shoulder tackles.
Shingo would catch a low strike from Ishii with a DDT, before tagging in SANADA. Ishii caught him with a back suplex, before tagging in YOH. Hitting a dragon screw leg whip, YOH would follow up wiht a dropkick on SANADA. CHAOS ran L.I.J off the apron, as YOH hit the Falcon Arrow for a two count.
Shingo would hit a lariat on YOH out of nowhere, before snapmaring him into a triple dropkick. YOH blocked Skull End into an inside cradle for a near fall, before being caught in Skull End. Once again, he’d slip into a pinfall, before taking the TKO. Skull End was fully applied, and SANADA got the win for L.I.J!
Kota Ibushi Is Not Able To Compete Tonight – Great-O-Khan Gets Pushed To Second Round Of New Japan Cup
Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb have both moved to the next round the New Japan Cup – and are ready to get back to being perhaps the best tag team in NJPW along the way. Tonight, they team up to take on Bad Luck Fale & Taiji Ishimori of BULLET CLUB, who are also in the second round thanks to receiving first round byes.
Originally, Great-O-Khan was to face Kota Ibushi on this night – but Ibushi was not able to get cleared to compete in the tournament. Instead, his first match in the tournament comes on May 12th when he goes one on one with Taiji Ishimori.
Never Count Out Bad Luck Fale
Fale & Ishimori would strike fast, with Fale taking Cobb to the outside. Ishimori would be able to cut Great-O-Khan down to the mat, and was able to maintain some control before being overpowered. Great-O-Khan would rake away at the back of Ishimori, before using him as a throne in the corner.
Ishimori would almost be forced to kiss the boot of Great-O-Khan, before ending up in Sheepkiller. Great-O-Khan would try to move into the clawhold, but Ishimori fought this away. Using his speed, Ishimori would set up Bombs Away – dropping Great-O-Khan before yanking him around the ring.
Ishimori would reject a tag from Fale and suffer for it as he walked into a kneebar. Cobb would tag into the match and surf on the back of Ishimori, before charging him into the corner. Fale would finally be able to get the tag, before getting ran into the corner by Great-O-Khan and hit with a neckbreaker.
Head & Arm choke would be applied, but Fale fought free and was able to set up an elbow drop. Fale would get a near fall off a lariat, before looking for the Grenade. Great-O-Khan fought Fale off, took a low blow from Ishimori – and Fale hit the Grenade for the victory.
