On Wednesday, March 2, Kanye West dropped the music video for “Eazy” and it’s…something else. The video premiered on Instagram and mixes live-action with the underappreciated art of claymation.
Pete Davidson Kidnapped and Buried by Kanye West in “Eazy” Music Video
Music is a powerful art form for entertainment and expression. While working through his frustrations in failing to woo now ex-wife Kim Kardashian away from Pete Davidson, he released the diss track “Eazy”.
The project features rapper the Game and was released on January 16. It has been described as a particularly vicious diss track targeted at Kim Kardashian and Davidson. Interestingly enough, West still attempted to get back with Kardashian even while dating Julia Fox and even after the song was released.
In the video, West is shown sitting on a wooden coffin rapping in the early portion. Later in the video, a masked Kanye is shown holding the disembodied depiction of Davidson’s head while rapping.
The claymation parts depict West kidnapping and burying Pete Davidson up to his neck and dropping rose seeds on his head. After that, the roses sprout from Davidson’s head and West plucks them—a call back to the truck of roses he sent Kim Kardashian on Valentine’s Day.
“Eazy” ends with a caption that reads “EVERYONE LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER, EXCEPT SKETE YOU KNOW WHO. JK, HE’S FINE.”
It was reported that Davidson found the song funny and wasn’t taking the one-sided feud seriously. However, in a moment of bad timing, Pete Davidson would return to Instagram for a short period after the video dropped before deactivating his account again.
For those who watched the video, what did you think? Is it a great work of art? Is the content to be expected of someone who has lost who they thought would be their partner for life? Or is this the music video a bad piece of revenge fantasy?
