Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have slammed the response by the UK in providing the necessary Covid-19 vaccines in order to tackle the pandemic.

This was voiced by the couple signing a letter in which they expressed disapproval towards the UK government’s decision to not relax the IP laws that would allow Covid-19 vaccines to be distributed more quickly.
They were joined alongside another 130 signees, who felt that something had to be done immediately to combat this.
In the letter, the signees were advocating the following: “World leaders, and particularly rich nations, have the responsibility to change this situation and ensure the publicly funded vaccine technology and know-how is available to the global south.”
Rather than this being an empty gesture, the pair have also decided to use the Archwell Foundation in this regard. They have apparently given their support to The People’s Vaccine Alliance.
This is a non-profit organisation with the intention of helping everyone have access to the vaccine. In a statement given by the organisation, a representative said: “We are proud to welcome Archewell Foundation.
“We will work together to end vaccine inequity and ensure COVID-19 vaccines, treatments and tests are available to everyone.” The response on social media, however, was very critical of the couple.
A large number of people felt that this was only done for publicity. Meanwhile, others argued that if they really cared about such an issue, then there was no reason why they could not put their own money behind the cause.
After all, it is not like they are short of money. One person wrote: “Demanding that vaccines are FREE “. Put your money where your mouth is and donate them to poorer nations.
“It’s like everything else “it’s virtue signalling “ another spectacular case of “do as we say, not do as we do “ which in the end will be nothing at all.”
It is ultimately a decision for each government to consider, and irrespective of what the couple have to say about it, that is not going to change anytime soon. After all, any influence they had has diminished since they left the Royal family.
