Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could face a lifetime of shame and regret for refusing to attend Prince Philip’s memorial service. The Sussexes announced a few weeks ago that they will not be part of the commemoration service. Queen Elizabeth is believed to be furious with the couple for their decision. However, she cannot do anything about the situation.
Prince Harry Won’t Attend Prince Philip’s Memorial Without UK Security Protection
Prince Philip died on the 9th of April, 2021, and Prince Harry was one of the guests at his low-key funeral. However, for the memorial service, the Duke claims that bringing his family to the UK without security protection is risky. This comes after, the UK Home office denied him a license to pay for police protection.
Prince Harry Could Live In Regret For The Rest Of His Life For Skipping Prince Philip’s Memorial
Meanwhile, royal expert Phil Dampier claims that the estranged Prince would live to regret his decision. In a recent newspaper interview, he said, “It’s very sad that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t be at Prince Philip’s memorial service and I think one day Harry might regret it.
He has said that he doesn’t feel safe without Scotland Yard security but to me that sounds like an excuse not to come back to the UK and indicates the rift with his blood family is still bad. He continued, “Harry was always very fond of his grandfather and was deeply honoured when he took over from him as Captain General of the Royal Marines, but sadly that didn’t last long.”
Mr. Dampier further claimed that the close relationship Harry shares with the Queen makes his current rebuff “all the more mystifying and strange” – and the Queen would likely be furious with him. Another Royal expert Victoria Arbiter also claims that the Duke of Sussex could regret skipping the memorial service.
She said that no matter their differences, royals always turn up for events of this nature. The royal commentator also suggested that Prince Harry may now miss out on an opportunity to make peace and settle his rift with other royals. Prince Harry’s current snub of Prince Philip’s commemoration service is already casting doubts on his anticipated presence at the platinum celebrations.
