We’re just a few short weeks away from Wrestlemania weekend, and it’s not just WWE that are running big shows on that weekend. Ring of Honor are set to return to action for their first show under ownership of Tony Khan. This means some AEW stars are set to show up – and gives fans a chance to see some dream matches… including FTR vs. The Briscoes.
The Briscoes To Defend ROH World Tag Team Championships Against FTR
Back at Final Battle: End of An Era, FTR would confront and attack The Briscoes, following their win over The OGK. Since then, shots have been fired back and forth on social media, but fans have been waiting for them to meet in the ring.
Now, this match will finally happen. It was made official by Tony Khan on Twitter. As two of the top teams in the world today, it has potential to steal the show – which says a lot given the card already containing Jonathan Gresham vs. Bandido.
Jay Briscoe Offers Sincere Apology For Homophobic Remarks Made In 20213
However, fans can’t yet expect The Briscoes in AEW – regardless of how the match goes. WarnerMedia have issues with someone like Jay Briscoe showing up on TNT or TBS, and it all stems from homophobic comments made by Briscoe in 2013.
Briscoe recently issued another apology about that incident – saying the following. The quote comes from the Battleground podcast.
“I want to say, thank you to the people who really know…we get labeled as homophobes. I put out a stupid tweet nine years ago, the most dumbest, immature, obnoxious s**t I’ve ever done, I don’t want anybody, from any walk of life, to feel like they can’t care for the Briscoes because I promise we love everybody. We love everybody and we just want to go out there and be pro wrestlers and give the best match that we can.
I said some dumb s**t a long time ago, I apologized for it and I’ll apologize for it again. It was stupid. I feel like now there are people who look at us like, ‘we can’t cheer for them because they hate a certain group of people.’ We don’t hate nobody. We love everybody. We’re just some country boys. I thought I was taking a stand for the Lord back in the day.”
This is a good step towards becoming signable by AEW. It could happen sooner rather than later, but the internet is written in ink. Do you want to see The Briscoes in AEW? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
