Four of the five names for the NXT North American Championship ladder match are set, as Carmelo Hayes will defend against Grayson Waller, Santos Escobar, and Solo Sikoa. However, three men have a second chance to make it to Dallas. Roderick Strong, A-Kid & Cameron Grimes clash in a last chance triple threat – and failure tonight is not an option.
Cameron Grimes Puts The Pressure On Himself
Cameron Grimes put a lot of pressure on himself to win this match – claiming that Stand & Deliver is his last chance to fulfil a promise to his late father. Grimes would go for a German Suplex on A-Kid, before being interrupted by Strong. A-Kid would roll Grimes up for a two count, before Strong would look for the Strong Hold.
Grimes would almost Cave-In A-Kid, before being taken into the corner for some strikes from Strong. He’d be thrown across the ring into A-Kid, who he monkey flipped into a hurricanrana. Grimes would then launch the Spanish Sensation into a dropkick on Strong.
Carmelo Hayes would join commentary with Trick Williams by his side, getting a chance to scout his potential opponents once again. A-Kid would hit a dive to the outside on Strong, but took a second to gloat and Grimes would nail the PK. Grimes would be taken out with a backdrop on the apron, as Solo Sikoa got a closer look.
Strong would take A-Kid into the ring and nail a backbreaker, before ripping at the face. Grimes got back to his feet on the floor, but was dropped with a wrecking ball dropkick. A-Kid would go for a cross armbreaker, but Strong was able to fight off the hold.
The Field Is Set For Dallas
Grimes got back into the ring, and was set up for a superplex. As he hit the mat, A-Kid soared in with a frog splash. Santos Escobar was watching from the stands, and Grayson Waller showed up as well. Strong would powerbomb A-Kid onto Grimes, before looking for a double Strong Hold.
He’d be unsuccessful, but Grimes would nail a double Hurricanrana. Some rushing forearm strikes would follow, before a high crossbody to Strong. The swinging side slam to A-Kid got a near fall, before nailing the Spanish Fly on Strong. A-Kid dove onto Grimes, and looked like he was caught – before turning it into a massive DDT.
Grimes, Strong & A-Kid would all exchange strikes in the middle of the ring, with Strong proving why he’s been one of the best for nearly two decades. Strong nailed a backbreaker and rushing lariat, before another backbreaker and the double knee gutbuster.
A-Kid was thrown onto the back of Grimes, before being able to counter End of Heartache but jumped into a knee strike. End of Heartache landed, but Grimes caught Strong with Cave-In for the win.
