Right now, Io Shirai lacks direction in NXT 2.0. She’s already done it all in the brand, aside from winning the Women’s Dusty Cup. Zoey Stark is still injured – and that means she might need a new partner. We can say for sure it won’t be her opponent tonight, Tiffany Stratton.
Io Shirai Won’t Lose To A Rookie – Diamond Mine Want Another Crack At Imperium
Shirai started fast, blocking a rear waist lock and grabbing a wrist lock. Stratton would be able to flip her way free and nailed an armdrag. Knee strike the midsection landed, before sending Shirai to the outside. Back in the ring, Shirai nailed a flapjack to Stratton before picking up speed for a dropkick to the face.
Stratton would get some control and applied an attempt at a Cobra Clutch. Shirai would have some issues breaking free, and when she did she’d take a knee to the midsection. A handspring elbow into the corner got a two count, but Shirai was done playing.
The big shotei landed, before the Bullet Train double knee strike. Scoop slam, moonsault – and Shirai claims another win in NXT. Stratton looked good here, but she’s nowhere near the level of Shirai.
After this match, we’d catch up with Malcolm Bivens & Diamond Mine – who challenged GUNTHER & Imperium to a six man tag team match next week. Malcolm Bivens also would say that The Creed Brothers are going to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and that WALTER should have just changed his name to DUMBASS.
Cameron Grimes Has A Vengeance Day Date
Carmelo Hayes is still calling himself the A-Champion in NXT, and he’s got two strong challengers lined up waiting for a shot. Cameron Grimes wants to make 2022 a golden year, but Tony D’Angelo has also claimed he deserves a shot. Tonight, they will meet in one on one action- and whoever wins gets a chance to become the NXT North American Champion.
Grimes would start off with a series of arm drags – before D’Angelo was sent outside and nailed with a PK to the jaw. Hayes & Williams were up in the rafters watching on as D’Angelo would turn things around with a huge suplex. Grimes would be thrown to the corner, and tumbled to the outside.
D’Angelo would nail a backbreaker in the middle of the ring, but only got a two count for his efforts. Throughout the break, Grimes was able weather the storm – which was mainly a lot of impressive suplexes from D’Angelo. Some gut punches would be followed by another suplex as we returned.
A tight waist lock was applied to Grimes, before he’d break free and nail the hurricanrana. Some rushing forearms would be followed by the running boot in the corner, which was dodged and turned into a German Suplex for a two count. Grimes got a two count of his own off a small package, before turning a crossbody into a Spanish Fly for a very near fall.
Some kicks would follow, before D’Angelo would suplex Grimes into the corner. A moonsault would take two attempts from a tired Grimes, before he’d get the crossbody for a two count. Cave In was signalled, but D’Angelo fled the ring. Pete Dunne would smack D’Angleo with a cricket bat out of nowhere behind the back of the referee, and Cave In would end the match in the ring.
