Last week, no one expected that Dolph Ziggler would leave NXT 2.0 as the NXT Champion – but he shocked everyone when he did just that. With some help from former NXT Champion Robert Roode, he was able to beat Bron Breakker & Tommaso Ciampa and walk away with the win. Now tonight, he brings a bit of the main roster to NXT – as he brings his good friend The Miz down for a special Tuesday night edition of Miz TV.
After hyping up his upcoming Wrestlemania match where he will team with Logan Paul to take on Rey & Dominik Mysterio, The Miz would explain that Ziggler asked for The Miz to come to NXT to give an exclusive interview. Ziggler hit the ring alongside Robert Roode, and said that being NXT Champion just feels right.
Earlier in the day, Bron Breakker was looking everywhere for Dolph Ziggler – before he was sent off from the venue. Roode explained that Breakker should have known the risks of a triple threat match – and Ziggler said he doesn’t wrestle for the money anymore, he does it for the passion of it. After all, he’s already rich.
Finally, someone from NXT would hit the ring – with LA Knight finally making his way back into the vision of Ziggler & Roode. He’s ready to go for the NXT Championship, but Ziggler only defends against superstars. If Knight keeps paying his dues, he’ll be a superstar someday.
Instead, Knight would agree he’s not a superstar – he’s a goddamn megastar. Knight wants Ziggler to show him that he’s the face of NXT – but Ziggler will only agree if it’s the main event. The Miz would somehow make this official, and we have a massive match to look forward too.
Santos Escobar Snatches Victory From Cameron Grimes
At NXT 2.0: Stand & Deliver, Carmelo Hayes will defend the NXT North American Championship in a ladder match. Four men will get the chance to claim gold, but they need to earn their spots. Tonight, Santos Escobar & Cameron Grimes will battle for a spot in this match, in what will be a hard fought contest for sure.
Escobar would kick things off with a hard shoulder tackle, before looking for the vertical suplex on Grimes. Grimes was able to break free, before being driven into the corner. Escobar would take some kicks, as Hayes & Trick Williams on commentary set up two more qualifying matches. Solo Sikoa will face Roderick Strong, while Grayson Waller will face the winner of KUSHIDA vs. A-Kid.
Grimes would send Escobar to the outside with a hurricanrana – before Wilde & Mendoza blocked the PK – allowing Escobar to trip Grimes up.
Back into the ring, Grimes got a two count off the inside cradle – before ending up with his arm stomped onto the canvas. Escobar was working the limb like a pro, but Grimes would be able to fight free. A kick to the back of the head would set up a spiral axe handle from Escobar, before Grimes sent him to the floor with a lariat.
Learning from the first time he tried this in the match, he’d jump over Wilde & Mendoza to catch Escobar. Into the ring, Escobar would block a crossbody into a codebreaker. Grimes shot back with a Spanish Fly in the middle of the ring, before a set up superkicks. Cave In was blocked into the Phantom Driver, and this one was over. Escobar is on his way to Stand & Deliver.
