We’re just a week away from Wrestlemania 38, and the card is still taking shape. While major matches like Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns, Edge vs. AJ Styles, and Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair were all finalised early on, minor matches can take up until the day of the show to be set in stone. This is the case of Omos, who has two potential opponents for the show.
Bobby Lashley Is The Planned Opponent Of Omos
Since breaking off from AJ Styles, Omos has been able to start up a successful singles career. This all but ensured him a spot at Wrestlemania, if not just to put on a spectacle. Right now, his planned opponent is Bobby Lashley – a match that will see Omos lose in rapid fashion.
Right now, Lashley is looking to make his return following injuries suffered during his Royal Rumble match against Brock Lesnar. He’s planned to return tomorrow night on Monday Night RAW, if he’s cleared to return to the ring. Lashley is likely one of, if not the first opponent who whoever wins the unification match between Roman Reigns & Brock Lesnar.
However, Gable Steveson Is On Standby
However, should Lashley be unavailable, WWE have a great chance to thrust Gable Steveson into the mix. His planned debut is set for the middle of April, but it wouldn’t be insane to see him get a big Wrestlemania debut.
Omos would still lose in this case, and having Steveson show up and slam the 7’3” giant in his debut at Wrestlemania would kick off his career with a bang. Steveson is viewed as one of the future pillars of the company, and has already been discussed as a potential pick to retire Brock Lesnar.
It’s a shame that one way or another, Omos is set to take a loss at Wrestlemania. WWE has done a fine job starting to build him up as a threat, but as proven by the likes of Big Show. Braun Strowman or Great Khali? Omos will be fine, he’s just stuck in the niche of ‘giant in WWE’.
