Bryan Danielson has been on fire in AEW during 2022, with only two losses to his name. Tonight, he will take on another seasoned veteran in Trent Beretta – someone who is hungry for a big win after his return to action in 2021. Beating Danielson would perhaps even shoot Beretta towards a title shot against Hangman Page – making this the biggest singles match to date.
Bryan Danielson Teaches A Lesson In Pure Violence
Danielson would kick things off fast, grabbing an arm wrench. A palm strike to the skull followed as Danielson grabbed a headlock. Beretta would hit a snapmare and kick to the spine, but Danielson was not rattled. He’d fire back with a series of leg kicks, before grabbing a front neck chancery. Beretta would block into a release Northern Lights Suplex, before looking for a Victory Roll.
Danielson would hold his ground, but was sent to the floor. Beretta tried to hit a dive to the floor, but was caught out of the air with a kick. Danielson would go for the Tope Suicida, but was caught right into a Saito Suplex. Beretta went for a spear on the floor, but Danielson sidestepped – causing Beretta to hit the steel steps.
Danielson would get to the ring and allow Beretta a chance to crawl back in himself – before nailing an elbow strike to the surgically repaired neck. Beretta would fight the cravat, before taking a series of hard strikes. A front headlock suplex would land, before Danielson went to the top rope.
Beretta would take him down hard with a superplex, before hitting a release German Suplex. Danielson would nail the Shoulder Capture Suplex, before locking in the Dragon Sleeper. Beretta broke free and got a near fall off a pinfall attempt before nailing the swinging DDT.
Going to the top rope, Beretta was grabbed into the Super Backdrop attempt – but was able to counter into a bulldog. Half & Half Suplex and a massive lariat would land, but Danielson persisted in this match. Danielson hit the running knee, before a Gotch Style Piledriver. Not done yet, Danielson would stomp the head in before applying the Lebell Lock for the win.
American Top Team Put Guevara & Conti In Their Place
Scorpio Sky would hit the ring with Ethan Page, Dan Lambert and his TNT Championship. He would explain that he did away with the open challenge gimmick, as he wanted someone worthy to step up – but no one stepped up to the plate.
Former champion Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti would come out, before just quickly calling Lambert a sexist old pig. Lambert admitted they had a point, but wants them to talk more about what they can do in the ring – and less about what they do in the bedroom. Page would say that Guevara is a crack in the foundation of AEW, and a PR disaster waiting to happen.
Guevara just wants a match, and will repeat this segment until he gets it. Should Guevara get a crack at the TNT Championship? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
