Henry Cejudo retired when he was in his prime. That was his wish, he wanted to go when he is the best. He wanted the people to remember him as a champion, not a loser.
Some time ago, some rumors started spreading – saying that he wants to get back. After some time The Triple C backed this rumor by sharing a call-out tweet for Alexander ‘The Great’ Volkanoski.
Dana White Has Spoken – I Don’t Want Henry Cejudo Back!
“You’ve inspired me to come back. When it comes to wrestling…you couldn’t pin a tweet. I would take you down and choke you out quicker than a McGregor relapse. Sign the contract. Let’s fight!” – said the Triple C.
And we ask, what contract? He is out of the UFC for good. He clearly stated this before. An important detail is that in order to come back he needs to surpass six months of drug testing before being able to compete again.
Nevertheless, he went the distance and according to his manager, Ali Abdelaziz, he already enrolled himself in the USADA drug-testing pool.
“Henry will focus on his fight and training. He never stopped training. I truly believe Henry can come back to win the 135 lbs title and go up to 145 lbs and win that. He will be the only fighter in UFC history to win three world titles.” – said Abdelaziz.
Until now without any comment on the matter from the official UFC, we were not able to determine whether this ‘comeback’ situation is plausible to happen. Since he enrolled in the USADA and started calling out fighters, it was obvious that he plans to.
Does Dana White want him back? Does the Triple C have something interesting and exciting to offer to the UFC? After the UFC Vegas 51, Dana White spoke to TMZ Sports journalists and denied Cejudo’s comeback.
“No, Cejudo’s retired. Cejudo’s retired, you know? He knows what he needs to do to get back in and get whatever. I mean, talking shit on Instagram does not get you fights.”
Even though Dana White is completely right about this, he seems to have a rather selective attitude regarding who can talk shit on social media and who can’t. He welcomes and fuels Conor McGregor’s posts on social media. Why isn’t this the case with Henry? Is he a worse fighter? Firstly Henry held two belts at the same time in the UFC. Simultaneously he also won an Olympic gold medal in wrestling.
Dana White is known to change opinions if he smells money. Let us see what happens now. Henry is a great fighter and had lots of followers. Maybe if this announced ‘comeback’ attracts too much noise he will reconsider.
