Is Replacing Cody Rhodes Against Seth Rollins At WrestleMania 38?

Not only is it WrestleMania weekend, but it’s April 1 and there’s a interesting rumor floating around that could easily be an April Fool’s Day prank.

The internet and wrestling talk shows have been abuzz with the highly likely possibility that Cody Rhodes will be Seth Rollins’ opponent at WrestleMania 38, but now there’s some room to doubt that.

As luck would have it, it’s been reported that the WWE brought back Shane McMahon for WrestleMania 38, but his role hasn’t been defined and that’s led to plenty of speculation.

    Replacing Cody

The latest rumor is that Cody and the WWE couldn’t come to an agreement financially, so he’s not going to be the one to face Seth Rollins.

In steps Shane McMahon, and coincidentally, facing Rollins was reportedly part of Shane’s plans for WrestleMania.

It was part of the reasoning for how he wanted to book the Royal Rumble, and if there’s a hitch in the deal between the WWE and Cody, plugging Shane in would make perfect sense.

As we mentioned above, this reeks of an April Fool’s joke, but a quick turnaround and tweaking is part of pro wrestling.

It also plays into Rollins’ opponent being solely at Vince McMahon’s choosing and nothing has been announced yet.

    Working together

There’s another option and it could be a storyline of Shane wanting to get back into Vince’s good graces, so he could be the one to bring Cody Rhodes into the WWE.

He’d be his manager, partner, or whatever title they decided to put on him and it’d give Cody a new level as a threat and he doesn’t have to come out as a heel or face to start off his WWE return.

It could even be reworked that they’re going to try to take over the WWE, and Vince brought them in to push his current talent to new heights.

It’ll come across similar to when Vince brought in the NWO and about as believable.

In the end, we’re going to get some answers by the end of the weekend. It’s going to be fun seeing what’s going to come out of this and if it’s Cody or Shane that’ll face Rollins.

Or maybe it’s going to be someone else we won’t see coming, but it seems more like it’s going to be Cody.

What do you think? Is Shane replacing Cody a April Fool’s trick or is it a legitimate spoiler? Let us know in the comments below.
