At Wrestlemania 38, the show was stolen by three matches in particular. The return of Cody Rhodes was huge, but Johnny Knoxville & Logan Paul really impressed in their matches. Alongside Bad Bunny at Wrestlemania 37, the bar has been raised for celebrities getting into the ring – and now Kevin Owens wants to bring another celebrity into the ring.
Kevin Owens Wants To Wrestle Matthew McConaughey
Following Wrestlemania 38, where Kevin Owens would step into the ring with the legendary Stone Cold Steve Austin in the main event of the first night – Owens would sit down with Corey Graves on the WWE After The Bell podcast. He’d reflect on Wrestlemania, and said that one of his favorite matches was Sami Zayn vs. Johnny Knoxville. When speaking about his best friend, he’d have the following to say.
“He had to fight to get it on the show and then he had to fight to make it good. Johnny Knoxville is amazing, Wee-Man, all those guys were incredible but they’re not wrestlers. He worked so hard to make that happen, he got body-slammed by Wee-Man, how did that happen?”
However, when thinking about which celebrity he would love to lock up with – Kevin Owens immediately knew who to name drop. None other than Matthew McConaughey. Owens would have the following to say.
“He’s my favorite actor, which happens to be a coincidence but a few years ago Matthew McConaughey came to a show and he was backstage. I didn’t get to meet him because there was a lineup of people waiting to talk to him so I didn’t get to see him.
I remember not long after that he talked about how he’d love to do something in WWE. I don’t know him, I don’t know him at all but to me he seems like the kind of guy who would be coming in to do it right and have a blast. People like that to me are welcome in our industry any time.”
