Meghan Markle has been warned against criticizing her family on the basis that she could harm her political aspirations.
Meghan Markle Warned That Her Poor Relations With Her Family Will Damage Her Political Aspirations
That is according to Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams. The speculation surrounding Meghan’s potential political career picked up a lot of momentum after she had reportedly contacted Senators, Shelley Moore Capito and Susan Collins.
This was on the basis of convincing them to get behind her support for paid parental leave within the United States. And yet, she has received some pushback on the basis that she is meddling into US politics on the back end of her connection to the Royal family.
Not only that, but this criticism is not going to be helped if she gets on the wrong side of her family. It is no secret that she does not have a good relationship with her father, Thomas Markle, who did not attend her wedding with Prince Harry.
Meanwhile, her half-sister Samantha Markle has not exactly spoken glowingly about Meghan. And this is something that Meghan would have to overcome if she is serious about entering into the world of politics.
In an interview with ToDiFor Daily, Richard said: “The relations with her family are disastrous and she’s also created a rift with the Royal Family or at least worsened it by Oprah.
“If they want whatever future they wanted, don’t keep knocking the British Royal Family or should I say, don’t keep knocking your family.”
Richard’s comments certainly ring true. Meghan cannot realistically be expected to make a difference within the political arena, if she manages to create opposition both within the political field and her family.
Although she is historically very close to her mother, that is not going to save her from the negative perception that has already been created.
After all, regardless of what you think about Meghan, she has not been elected into office at any level, nor does she have any experience.
Royal commentator Hilary Fordwich confirmed as much: “On the American side of things, we didn’t elect Meghan Markle. She’s not elected…Who wants her to be in that position?”
