Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been criticised over being rude for not attending Prince Philip’s memorial.

That is according to Royal expert Ingrid Steward. The couple announced in March that they would not be attending, which did raise quite a few eyebrows.
This would have been the opportunity for the Royal family to put their recent differences to one side, as the family could get united to pay homage to Philip.
Not only that, but it would have also given Queen Elizabeth II the opportunity to see her granddaughter Lilibet first-hand, something which she has not managed to do as of yet.
But given that Harry is currently pursuing a legal challenge against the Home Office on the basis that he wants to fund his own security, so that he can feel safe in the UK, the timing was simply not inline.
And yet, Ingrid was of the view that the couple were outright disrespectful. In an interview with The Mirror, she said: “Harry must have known it would look petulant and rude. And if he did not Meghan would have.
“The wall of silence was as loud as if they had shouted from the abbey rafters. The normally verbose duke and duchess of Sussex said nothing.”
Ingrid’s comments are understandable for the following reasons. First of all, the couple were the only high-profile people connected with the Royal family to have not attended.
This is even more damning in light of the fact that Prince Andrew made an appearance, despite his recent sexual assault allegations. Secondly, reports indicated that the couple did not send any flowers to the event either.
And by refraining from getting themselves involved, this has only alienated them further. Royal writer Angela Levin was equally damning of Harry’s conduct. “The Harry I interviewed was caring and kind and instinctive.
“Nowadays, he is so full of resentment and me me me.” Ultimately, this is a decision that Harry has to live by. And as long as he stands by it, then the harsh reality is that any criticism towards him will not be taken onboard.
